AI is the tool. Your voice is the advantage.

How AI levels the playing field, and what you can do to stand out.
For years, we’ve heard that content is king, but now that AI can generate blog posts, graphics, emails, texts, code, and more in seconds, what happens next?
The game has changed, and AI is the great equalizer.
The playing field is leveling, and now small businesses can compete with the biggest brands in the world.
But your real business advantage? That hasn’t changed.
But first, a story:
Here’s what Lee Oskar taught me about AI.
A few years ago, I spoke in LA at NAMM, the National Association of Music Makers. It was a dream come true for a musician and music fanatic like me.
As I walked the floor, I spotted a booth showcasing Lee Oskar Harmonicas. If you don’t know, Lee Oskar is the legendary harmonica player from the band War.
Oskar is not only an incredible musician, but he also designed the line of harmonicas that I play.
Of course, I couldn’t resist stopping by, and to my surprise, Lee was there.
I reached into my bag and showed him the case of 12 of his harmonicas that I always carry with me when I travel.
We started chatting, and before I knew it, Lee Oskar invited me into his booth.
He handed me one of his harmonicas and nodded for me to play something. I played a few bars and he smiled. Then he picked up the exact same model harmonica in the same key, and played something so soulful, so expressive, so mind-blowing that it stopped everyone around us.
It was the same tool, the same key, but a completely different outcome.
That’s how AI creates a business advantage for you.
AI isn’t coming, it’s already here.
If you’re in business, AI is already part of your world. It’s running marketing campaigns, answering customer service calls, optimizing sales funnels, and writing content and code faster than we ever could, and it’s getting better at it every single day.
But let’s be clear,
AI is not replacing you. AI is amplifying you. The businesses that win will be the ones that use AI to enhance their relationships, not replace them.
AI can write your emails, but it can’t shake your client’s hand.
AI can create a marketing campaign, but it can’t build trust over lunch.
AI can generate social media posts, but it can’t deliver a keynote speech that moves people to action. And that’s where your real opportunity lies.
Most people think AI is like Google. You type something in and get an answer, but that’s not how it works. AI is not a search engine, it’s a collaborator.
The “Kick Ask” Rule: How to Get Better Results from AI
To get the best results, you’ve got to do what my friend Dave Bricker calls “Kick Ask!” That means asking better questions.
Here’s how:
1. Be specific.
Don’t just ask AI to “write a social media post.” Ask, “Write a 200-word LinkedIn post in a conversational tone that shows small business owners how AI can increase their revenue.”
2. Give AI a role.
Tell it to act as a branding strategist or a marketing expert with 20 years of experience.
3. Iterate.
Ask for a second version, or a third, or a 10th. Continue to hone the responses until they’re as powerful as possible. Because, unlike your coworkers, AI never gets annoyed.
Belief: The One Thing AI Can’t Replace
At the heart of every business is one thing AI can’t replicate. That’s belief.
Think about it. Tiffany sells the same gold rings as any other jeweler, but because of that blue box and the belief behind the brand, they can charge up to 80% more, and people gladly pay it.
Your brand is not your logo, not your website, not even your product. Your brand is the belief people have in what you stand for.
AI can generate content, but only you can build trust.
AI can optimize messaging, but only you can make a customer feel truly valued.
That is your competitive advantage.
What Are You Going to do With All This?
A while back, someone asked an AI chatbot, “Why are you here?”
The chatbot replied, “I’m here to give you all the tools you need to figure out who you are.”
The question is what are you going to do with all of this?
The businesses that win will be those that offer the human touch, unique insight, and belief that no algorithm can replicate.
Let’s Work Together
I keynote at conferences around the world helping companies harness AI to improve their branding, messaging strategy, and build lasting relationships.
If you want to give your audience a high-energy, insightful, transformational experience, let’s talk. I still have just a few dates open in 2025.
Let’s make one of them yours.
Simply put , so well done.
Thank you, Ritchie.
I love your line “AI is amplifying you.” What a great perspective and an excellent exhoration.
Thanks, Brian. I’m looking forward to hearing you say that onstage!
Great blog. I’m going to share it with Stephanie who continues to believe Google is just as good as ChatGPT. Maybe this will change her mind!
Of course Stephanie will believe it now, Stoney. That’s because I said it instead of you!
Bruce is brilliant, and generous. His speeches are so very relevant and engaging. Thanks Bruce for this wisdom.
I hope my mom sees your comment, Irma! Thank you very much for your kind words.
